Tell us about your background and research interests.
My background is in marine science with a specialized focus on marine mammal and sea turtle stranding biology. Over the years, my research focus has been on dolphin toxicology, which involves studying the effects of various toxins on dolphin health. Additionally, I am passionate about investigating marine mammal and sea turtle human interaction cases and understanding how humans are shaping ecosystem health.
What is your role at the Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security (GCAHFS)?
As a research associate at GCAHFS’s Gulf Coast Aquatic Health Lab, I support the marine mammal and sea turtle programs. My responsibilities include conducting research, assisting with necropsies, and rehabilitating sea turtles.
From your perspective, how is GCAHFS “taking care of what matters?”
GCAHFS is dedicated to providing top-level veterinary care for endangered sea turtles and offering comprehensive diagnostics for stranded marine mammals. Our team is committed to advancing the conservation of these vulnerable species through innovative research and care.
What are your hobbies or activities outside of work?
I enjoy running, gardening, pottery, and going to the beach!
What is your favorite seafood?
As someone with New England roots, I’d have to say my favorite seafood is lobster.
