Ryanne Murray is a Research Associate I based in Gulfport, MS, for the Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security (GCAHFS) and the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine at Mississippi State University.
At GCAHFS, she supports faculty and staff by participating in funded research projects aimed at safeguarding the health of marine mammals and sea turtles inhabiting the Gulf of Mexico. Her responsibilities extend to providing on-site assistance for the center's sea turtle rehabilitation initiatives as well as necropsies on stranded animals.
Specializing in marine science with a minor in coastal management, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eckerd College. Murray has a background in marine mammal and sea turtle stranding response, rehabilitation, and necropsy from her involvement in several stranding networks across the country. Murray is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in veterinary medical science through the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on marine mammal health.
