Fernando Y. Yamamoto is an assistant research professor at the Delta Research and Extension Center, where he works at the Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center. His research primarily focuses on aquaculture nutrition and alternative methods to enhance fish production and health. Within the field of fish nutrition, his investigations have concentrated on alternative feed ingredients, feed additives, and establishing nutrient requirements to optimize production performance and understanding how feed formulation changes can influence disease resistance.

Dr. Yamamoto is originally from Brazil, where he earned his BS degree in Aquaculture Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in 2012 and his MS degree in Animal Science and Pasture from the University of São Paulo in 2015. In December 2019, he completed his PhD in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University, where he also worked as a research associate for one and a half years before joining Mississippi State University in 2021.
